What child would not be delighted to wake up one morning and see this edible train displayed on a table just for his or her birthday?  This is one of the many edible items that is in Shirley's book, "Incredibly Edible".

I have been given permission to share this picture and information on my web site:  Engine and cars can be as many as you like.  Hook them together with string licorice.  These are nice to have with an axle underneath, so that there is space.  Stack one car with candy corn, cereal wheels, a car loaded with tootsie rolls, another with pretzel sticks, use necco wafers for wheels.  (This is really nice to make into a large load.)  Put two cars together, stacking with the large pretzel sticks.  The engine is made with a large silky way, large tootsie roll front, (hand-shaped).  Non-parell with a small yellow gumdrop for the big light, a candy corn-cow catcher; tootsie roll or gumdrop smokestack; gumdrop ring wheels, with a cereal center; and the bar between the wheels from grey-colored gum cut to a bar shape.  Chocolate dipped graham cracker forms engineer's stand.  Cut out window carefully.  A Hershey bar for the roof of the cab.  Cut black gumdrop pieces are used to resemble coal.  NOTE:  Coating poured on wax paper to 1/8" thickness can be easily cut to form cab on engine or for making the caboose.
