1. Roll out the gum paste evenly. (A work sheet to accomplish an even piece of gum paste made be made by gluing two ruler-like pieces of wood to the plexiglas or similar moveable surface.) 2. Cut even strips and same sizes of strips. These will make the loops. Therefore, be sure that all the strips are the same size and are even pieces of gum paste. 3. Take each strip and roll the strip over in half, but not allowing the strip to stick to itself. Put a cotton ball inside the opening of the strip. 4. Pinch the bottom of each strip to close the bottom end. 5. Remove the cotton ball and place the loop in the "loop hanger" or on its side. 6. Thoroughly dried and ready to place on the cake, put the loops on the cake to form a bow. Start from the bottom of the bow and fill in as the bow is formed. Note: When the bottom end of the loop is pinched together, a toothpick may be put in that area prior to the pinching. Then, the loops may be stuck into the cake as the bow is formed. |
